How to Get to Atlantis Dunes from Cape Town

Atlantis Dunes lie north of Cape Town on the West Coast, inside the Witzands Aquifer Nature Reserve. The drive is straightforward, but the last stretch is where people go wrong, because the dune field is far larger than the signage suggests.
Driving from the city
From central Cape Town, take the N1 or M5 to the N7 north, then the R307 towards Atlantis and Silwerstroomstrand. Allow 45–60 minutes depending on traffic; the last section is open road and moves quickly outside of peak hours.
The reserve is a conservation area, not a fairground: there are no shops, and mobile signal is patchy in parts of the dune field. Fill up and buy water before you leave the N7.
Finding the meeting point
The staging area inside the reserve moves depending on wind and dune conditions, so we confirm the exact meeting point with your booking rather than publishing a fixed pin. Follow the coordinates you are sent on the day and arrive with time to spare — permits and indemnities take a few minutes per rider.
If you don't have a car
Ride-hailing coverage to the reserve is unreliable and returning is worse, so we do not recommend relying on it. The transfer package exists precisely for this: we collect from central Cape Town and the northern suburbs, run the tour, and return you.
