The dunes are not the same place at 09:00 and 16:00. Wind, sand firmness and light all shift through the day, and picking the right slot is the cheapest upgrade available to you.
Morning: calmest and firmest
Early slots usually have the lightest wind, cooler air and firmer sand from the overnight moisture, which makes the quads feel more planted and predictable. This is the slot we recommend for first-time riders, families and anyone who dislikes wind-blown sand.
Midday: brightest and hottest
Midday gives the strongest contrast between white sand and blue sky, but also the harshest light for photographs and the highest UV. In summer it is genuinely hot on the sand, so hydrate properly and cover up.
Late afternoon: best light, most wind
Late slots give long shadows across the dune ridges and the best photographs of the day. The trade-off is the south-easter, which typically strengthens through the afternoon in summer. Goggles rather than sunglasses make a real difference in that window.
