60 minutes riding
The one-hour tour is the quickest way to ride real sand at Atlantis Dunes inside the Witzands Aquifer Nature Reserve. You arrive, complete your documentation, get fitted with a helmet, learn the controls on flat sand, and then follow your guide onto the open dune field.
Total estimated price
R1 250 per rider
The permit fee is charged per rider and is subject to change by the reserve.

Everything is automatic — twist and go. There is no gear changing, no clutch and no previous riding experience required, which is why this tour suits families, couples and groups who want the dune experience without a long day out.
Riding time is a full hour on the sand, with short photo stops at the higher ridges where the dune field opens out towards the West Coast.
Full detail on briefings, gear and reserve rules is on the quad biking safety page.
Closed shoes, long trousers, a light jacket for the wind off the Atlantic, sunglasses or goggles, sunscreen and a buff or scarf for fine sand. Leave loose scarves and jewellery in the car. Full guidance is in the what to wear at Atlantis Dunes guide.
All departures are subject to daily reserve permit availability.
Reschedules are free with sufficient notice, and rides cancelled by the reserve or by unsafe weather are rescheduled or refunded. Read the cancellation policy and refund policy in full before booking.
Atlantis Dunes sit inside the Witzands Aquifer Nature Reserve, approximately 45–60 minutes from central Cape Town, depending on traffic. The exact meeting point inside the reserve is confirmed with your booking, because the staging area moves with wind and dune conditions. See directions to Atlantis Dunes.
