120 minutes riding

Two-Hour Quad Biking Cape Town at Atlantis Dunes

Two hours changes the ride completely. Instead of a loop around the nearest dunes, your guide takes the group deeper into the reserve, linking the high ridges, the bowl sections and the flatter fast sand into one continuous route.

Total estimated price

R1 950 per rider

The permit fee is charged per rider and is subject to change by the reserve.

About this experience

The extra time also means a slower start: more training, more confidence, and space to build up to steeper terrain rather than being thrown at it. Most riders find their rhythm somewhere in the second half of the first hour, which is exactly when a one-hour tour ends.

A short rest break splits the ride, with time for photographs at one of the higher vantage points before the return leg.

Closed shoes, long trousers, a light jacket for the wind off the Atlantic, sunglasses or goggles, sunscreen and a buff or scarf for fine sand. Leave loose scarves and jewellery in the car. Full guidance is in the what to wear at Atlantis Dunes guide.

How booking works

  1. Send an availability request with your date, riders and transfer requirement.
  2. We confirm the departure slot and permit availability in writing.
  3. You receive a written total, including the compulsory reserve permit.
  4. Arrive, complete the indemnity, get fitted and trained, then ride.

All departures are subject to daily reserve permit availability.

Cancellation in short

Reschedules are free with sufficient notice, and rides cancelled by the reserve or by unsafe weather are rescheduled or refunded. Read the cancellation policy and refund policy in full before booking.

Where you ride

Atlantis Dunes sit inside the Witzands Aquifer Nature Reserve, approximately 45–60 minutes from central Cape Town, depending on traffic. The exact meeting point inside the reserve is confirmed with your booking, because the staging area moves with wind and dune conditions. See directions to Atlantis Dunes.

Two-hour tour questions

Is two hours too long for a first-time rider?
Not usually. The pace is set by the guide and the training section is longer, so first-time riders have more time to get comfortable before the harder terrain.
What is the total price for the two-hour tour?
The tour fee is R1 650 per rider plus the R300 reserve permit, giving a total estimated price of R1 950 per rider.
How is the two-hour tour different from the one-hour tour?
You cover considerably more of the reserve, ride a wider variety of dune shapes, get a rest break, and have more time at the scenic stops.
