The Atlantis Dunes — also known simply as the Atlantis sand dunes or dunes Cape Town — are a vast field of shifting white sand on the West Coast of the Western Cape. They fall inside the protected Witzands Aquifer Nature Reserve near the town of Atlantis, roughly 60 km / 1 hour from the Cape Town CBD via the R27 West Coast Road.
Because the dunes sit inside a protected area, access is controlled and limited. Only licensed commercial operators with valid daily permits are allowed to run quad biking tours here — which is exactly why Quad Biking Cape Town exists. The reserve rules keep the dunes wild and the experience premium: no operations on Wednesdays, no alcohol on the dunes, small groups only, and strict speed and route control by the guide. Every rider signs both a City of Cape Town indemnity and a Wanderer indemnity before the ride.

How to reach the Atlantis Dunes from Cape Town.
